Half-Kneeling Stretch with Psoas Variation

Updated: Nov 25, 2020

Try this added variation on the half kneeling hip flexor stretch to target the psoas muscle! By adding in a slight twist and lateral side bend to the opposite side, we open up the psoas, allowing for more of an isolated stretch.

Remember, keep the hip of the down leg as extended as possible (squeeze the glutes) to maximize the stretch at the distal end of the psoas. Keep the hand behind the head, twist and look upwards to the diagonal to open up the proximal end of the psoas for the stretch.
